Extreme Double Knitting: New Adventures in Reversible Colorwork by Alasdair Post-Quinn (as featured in the fall issue of Interweave Knits magazine) is now available for order! When I left Vogue Knitting Live on Sunday, I headed down the coast to help out at the photoshoot for an upcoming Cooperative Press book by Stephannie Tallent of knits inspired by California Revival style. The photos, by Kathy Cadigan (who is just plain delightful, and a brilliant photographer to boot), are stunning. Steph models a few things, and then we roped friend-of-CP Kristi Porter into some modeling, too.

If you examine what Cooperative Press is about down to its core, it is passion. Passion for publishing amazing books, for supporting artists we love, for bringing change to an industry we adore but that we think needs a bit of an overhaul in the rights and payments department.

That passion isn’t restricted to fiber arts. Fiber arts may be our founder’s central focus, but we also have a deep love for other topics. And so, CP is incredibly happy to announce that we are taking on projects in two new areas, the first of which is (non-fiber) art.

The first book in our art division will be The National Portrait Gallery of Kessa: The Art of Arabella Proffer. As for the other topic? You’ll have to wait on that one a little longer, but I can tell you it’s very, very exciting. What all these topics have in common is a deep and abiding love for indie production and for doing things in your own style — which is also what we’re about.

Behold…the greatest shoes on earth. Fluevog very kindly lent us some astonishing shoes to use for our Big Foot Knits shoot, and I couldn’t be more excited if I tried! The socks are blocking at the moment, the models are getting ready…tomorrow will be a big day.

We’ll also be shooting pieces for Kate Atherley’s Beyond Knit and Purl, which is shaping up to be one of the most useful books I have seen in ages. Even if you’ve been knitting for years, like me, you’ll find something you didn’t already know inside its pages.
